Winnie the Pooh First Birthday Cake
by Khandra
(Wisconsin)
I made this Winnie the Pooh cake for my daughter's first birthday.
I made a two tier, bottom vanilla, top chocolate, cake.
You will need two pans, one slightly smaller than the other one, to stack on top of each other. I started by taking the bigger cake and cutting the peak off of the top to make the surface flat to stack the smaller cake on top of.
Then I frosted the bottom tier with vanilla buttercream, then placed the smaller cake on top of the bigger cake. I had also frosted the top tier with vanilla buttercream but before frosting I had added pink food coloring to give it a more colorful look.
For the sides of the bottom tier I had added yellow bee's and pink dots with number 12 Wilton tip. Along the bottom of the bottom tier I added M&M's to make the cake more colorful.
For the top tier's borders I added violet food coloring to vanilla buttercream and used a number 129 Wilton decorating tip to add a border around the cake. I had used the same tip 129 to make a heart shaped grass around the Pooh and Piglet figures, with one candle.
