Tristan's Super Mario Bros. Birthday Cake

Of course you can find almost everything on Ebay including this 1989 Super Mario Bros. Vintage Wilton Cake pan. My son was turning 4 years old and I knew I just had to shock him with this cake.

The great thing about Wilton Cake pans is that they come with instruction, so even for an amatuer like myself you can make a beautiful piece of art you will not want to cut into.

I went to the local Michael's arts and craft store and purchased the items listed on the cake pan's decorations.

Wilton's decorating frosting, Disposable decorating bags, Wilton's gel food coloring in Red Red, Sky Blue, Yellow, and Brown(Once again indicated on cake pan directions;they are more concentrated so you use less)and Decorating tips with the couplers.

Off to work I went mixing my frostings to customize the colors, piping on the frosting.. In total baking time for the one cake mix 40 minutes, frosting on the other hand because I just had to get it so precise was about 1 1/2 to 2 hrs.

The look on my 4 year old son Tristan's face.. Priceless!!

Worth every minute.

Very good job!!!!!!

Using these shaped pans becomes very addictive!!!!!! And as you said they look really good when you're done.

And I know what you mean about pans on ebay....boy do I know!
