Valentine Cake

A spouse requested I make a cake for her hubby. She wanted to surprise her husband with a valentine gift. That was what informed the choice of the ribbon as a topper on the cake, and I placed the love cut outs at the edge of the cake not to lose the days significance - Valentine's day.

I made a simple vanilla cake,used strawberry jam as the base. To keep it moist and for a sweet taste, I made fondant colored blue and laid it on the cake. The lady was so impressed with the cake, especially as I used a ribbon as the topper.

Valentine ’s Day Cake

I love all your cakes & somehow came across this one – I had already a design in mind for my Girl Friend on this Valentine ’s Day but didn’t know what sort of cake to bake I found here some valentine cakes http://www.monginis.net/occasions/valentines-day-cakes. Can you suggest me more?
