Topsy Turvy Cake

This is my first attempt at a topsy turvy cake. And the mistake is that I made it a full week too early!!!!!!!!

I had my dates crossed. But all ends well, I needed the practice and ended up giving it to a local nursing home and they will celebrate tomorrow with cake and ice cream!

I used 5 cake mixes for this one. I used round pans in assorted sizes.

I covered cakes in white buttercream and then smoothed with a Viva towel.

I added fondant stripes, squares, circles, stars and flowers in red, purple, black and green.

Around the base layer I added some black buttercream with a large star tip.

I found the directions on how to stack these kinds of cakes on other sites. I did use dowels between layers.

YOU ARE SO BRAVE TO DO THAT. I DON'T KNOW THAT I COULD MANAGE...MAYBE ONE DAY I WILL TRY. LOVED IT, CAN'T IMAGINE ALL THE WORK YOU PUT INTO IT. I HAVE SEEN SO MANY OF THEM AND THEY ARE SO PARTY LOOKING..GREAT WORK GIRL..NANCY

Be sure and read all the instructions you can find. Then it doesn't seem so scary.
I did tranport it in separate layers. Put it together when I got there and just added the trim to cover the places where I messed up the icing putting it together.
Was easier than I expected. Can't wait to see yours!!!!!
