Tera Cotta Flower Pot Cake
by Nancy Courtney
(Rialto, CA)
To make this flower pot cake, I used a wonder pan that is used for the doll cakes. I made a chocolate cake. I turned it out and trimmed a little off the bottom. I crumb coated it upside down and made my fondant in a teracotta color.
I mixed orange, brown and red. Put the fondant on also upside down and then turned it over onto board.
I rolled out a strip to put around the top of the pot and used a pattern rolling pin. I also made some little flowers with the same fondant and put it on with fondant paste.
I had earlier made flowers in different colors with gumpaste and some leaves all on wires except for a few plain.
Use the hair or grass tip for the grass and stuck the flowers and leaves in. I did cut the cake in half first and put buttercream in the center of it.
