So for our daughter's Sweet 16 we want to give her a beautiful 3-Tier Topsy Turvy Cake. We are on a budget and do not want to over spend on a cake. Therefore we have decided to make the cake but our baking techniques are not exactly an art form. Does anyone have tips on making them? The picture shown is the cake we would like to attempt to make. The one problem we are facing is making the fondant. Any tips? Thanks
Marshmallow fondant is easy enough to make, and cheaper, but if you want to to be easy to transfer onto the cake, and you don't want it sticking to your rolling surface, premade fondant would be the best choice. It doesn't taste the greatest when you buy it but you can knead CLEAR flavoring into it. My flavor of choice is Goodman's Clear Vanilla*. You can buy fondant that already has a chocolate flavor to it as well. As for coloring it, you will need to us PASTE color, not liquid food coloring because it will change the consistency.
* Too much flavoring will also change the consistency and cause it to be very sticky.

I'VE MADE CAKES JUST LIKE THIS BEFORE!!! by: Experienced
You can buy fondant at usually any craft store. I would try looking online for pre colored fondant in the colors you want and maybe some instruction sheets on covering your cakes. Good Luck!
