Spongebob Squarepants Birthday Cake - For a Three Year Old

I have made a few birthday cakes in my time, but this Spongebob Squarepants birthday cake was most certainly the nicest one I have made so far. I made it out of a very moist chocolate sponge, this sponge is a oil based cake & to add extra flavor I add some strong black coffee.
I used a 40cm rectangular cake tin and then cut the cake in half pasting the 2 halves together with some buttercream icing.
I was really aimng to let the cake stand up-right but after trying a few different methods & failing, I decided to make the cake lying flat.
The cake was then covered with the different colors buttercream. To make the pants, shirt and body segments, I added some melted caramel to make shadows to form the circles representing the sponge effect. I then took pipe cleaners and covered it with sugar paste to form the arms and legs adding the hands and shoes separately. The stripes on the socks were painted on with gel food coloring.
The eyes, tongue and tie were done in the same way molding the sugar paste into the desired shapes and then painting on the necessary colors with the gel coloring.
The mouth was piped with yellow buttercream icing and then to bring it out a little more, I just painted it with some darker yellow gel coloring and added the sugar paste teeth. The eyelashes were also piped on with black buttercream icing and the cake was ready for delivery.
I had so much fun creating it and the satisfaction on the 3 year old girls face when she saw the cake was amazing.
Thank you
