Snowflake Cake

by Trinity Wood
(Russellville, AR )

This snowflake cake was a smaller cake. It was only a 6 inch round cake that I made as a gift.

I frosted it in butter cream icing and covered it with red fondant.

For the topper, I cut out lots of snowflakes with my snowflake cutters and let them dry until they were hard.

I painted some of them silver and some of them gold with my airbrush tool. I sprinkled a little disco dust on some of them to make them sparkle.

I affixed them to a gumpaste base (I actually used a gumpaste seashell that I had from something else) with melted white chocolate.

I added a few snowflakes to the cake here and there as shown in the picture above and used some fondant to make little red holly berries. I then sprinkled them with two sizes of sugar pearls to make a "snow" effect.
