Scooby Doo Birthday Cake
by Karla Diamond
(East McKeesport, PA, USA)
For this Scooby Doo birthday cake, a half sheet was used.
Flat ice the cake in white buttercream.
Next, spray the green coloring using the Wilton green spray.
For the Mystery machine, I used a mini loaf pan, and used mini Oreo cookies for the wheels. I use buttercream icing. I iced the whole cake with turquoise tinted icing then added white icing for the windows, lime green tinted icing for the band around and the back of the van.
I then used a writer bag (parchment paper folded into a triangle and the end snipped off) with very little of the end snipped off to write the words "The Mystery Machine" on the back part of the van. I then used about a tip 3 for the flowers around the van.
For the Scooby that is placed on the cake, I used a pan and used a brownie mix to make the Scooby. I then used a writer bag and piped black icing to trace the outlines of Scooby and for his nose and mouth. The same blue icing that was used for the Mystery Machine is used for the collar and the back of the tag. I then used about tip 2 for the yellow on the tag to trace the tag and write "SD".
After placing the Mystery machine and the Scooby brownie on the cake, pipe the borders using tip 18 (star)
I bought rings and edible "stickers" at a local cake decorating store, which I placed on the cake.
I then wrote the saying on the cake to match how Scooby would say it.
