Saxophone Cake

by Lisa
(IL)

I'm new to cake decorating and my daughter would like me to make a saxophone cake for an upcoming music event at her high school. If I make a half sheet cake, how can I make a 3d saxophone on top. I'm new to fondant and I don't know how to mold fondant into a saxophone cake or know if it can be done. Does anyone have any ideas?

As you are new to cake decor... keep it simple. Transfer the picture of the saxophone to the cake and fill it with piping jelly or stars.

Wow, not sure. But I would use several loaf pan cakes...and carve till the shape is like a sax. Laying down, not standing.

And you can cover any mistakes with icing.

You could use candy to make the parts of the sax instead of fondant.

You will definately have to use your imagination!

You might be better off to find a picture [coloring book type] of a sax and make a chocolate transfer to put on top or just draw it flat on the cake.

Also, when I'm needing ideas for a certain thing, I google it and google images.
