Priate Ship Cake
by Donna
(Alpharetta,ga, usa)
To make this pirate ship cake, bake three 1/4 sheet cakes or size needed. Stack all three cakes with icing, making sure to use dowels for support. I placed four dowels on front and back of cake.
In the center of cake cut a flat bottom "u" approximately half way down through the cake.
Cut the front into the shape of an arrow and remove one layer. This will make the front shorter.
Apply your favorite icing and smooth.
Use a dinner fork to rake the sides making it look like planks.
I used black and red colored icing to make the windows and framing for the cannons.
For the rails I used chocolate Twizzlers and toothpicks. Cut them to the size needed and place a toothpick through all pieces.
Sails were made with black pipe cleaners and felt.
The side nets were made with melted chocolate and wax paper. Just pipe the chocolate when melted on wax paper to shape.
Malted milk balls were used for cannon balls.
I also purchased pirate figures for this cake.
