Practice Guitar Cake
by Kelly Little-Smalley
(Van Buren, Arkansas, USA)
This guitar cake was made using the Wilton guitar pan.
I used one cake mix. One mix overfills the pan. I also used a loaf pan for the extra mix.
After baked, cool completely.
I cut the neck of the guitar because in my opinion, it's too short and not proportional.
So I used the loaf pan and cut a piece to fit and made it the way I wanted it.
I also cut a bit out to make it look more like an electric guitar.
I used buttercream. The fondant was only for the pieces.... knobs, frets and such.
The marbeling was done with buttercream and a Viva! towel. {Thanks Nancy!}
The strings are dental floss. {Thanks to the Master decorator in our town! He sure didn't have to share that with me!Thanks Danny!}
I needed this trial run before the 2 I'm doing for a grooms cake next weekend.
