Pool Table Cake...How About a Game
by Te'Kessa Adams
(Atlanta, GA)
This cake was a labor of love. She inquired about pool ball cupcakes for her uncle who loved to play pool and I talked her into a full pool table cake. This was my first pool table cake so I started a week early making the accessories for the cake.
The chalk and pool balls for the cake are make of fondant and were made 1 week in advance to allow time to dry. The cake is three layers of white cake that are 1/4 sheet cake.
The top of the cake was covered in green fondant and the sides in a wood grain fondant. The pockets of the cake were made by cutting a half circle into the fondant trim and the corner pockets had black fondant tassels added to them.
Once the table was complete, I added the balls. I wanted to make it look like a game was being played on the table, so I placed the balls in different places and on different angles.
The pool sticks were added last and are made from a fondant wrapped wooden skewer complete with blue tips to resemble chalk.
For a first try, I loved the finished product!!!!
