Planet Rock - Moon Based Cake

Hi, this is a cake that I made for my brother in law who is a huge Planet Rock fan and loves his rock music. This was made using two round sandwich tins and another cake cooked in a glass bowl. They were all stacked upon each other and using buttercream I covered the whole cake and then put on grey ready made icing.
The pressed in holes, which are meant to look like moon craters, were done using the end of a wooden spoon and my vegetable peeler. I then added the silver ribbon and wet some areas of the cake with warm water.
I painted and sprinkled on edible silver glitter and pressed in white chocolate stars that I bought from the supermarket. The guitar was made out of Marzipan.
I downloaded a template of a guitar and placed it over the top of my rolled out marzipan and then cut round it. I added the guitar bits with marzipan. It was painted with food coloring and I used a cocktail stick to carve out the string etc.
I then blew silver glitter over it and let it dry. I brushed the cake with warm water and sugar (where the guitar was to be applied) and carefully fixed it into position.
The Gene Simmons figure was bought from Ebay for £1.50 and fixed to the cake with icing applied to a Pizza topper platform (not sure what they are offically called), this stopped him sinking as he was heavy and made him sit straight. :-) I love this cake and have had more requests for it. Happy baking and decorating.
