Peppa Pig Birthday Cake
by Kelly Ellis
(Alvechurch, Birmingham)
I made this Peppa Pig cake for my daughter's 4th birthday. I started by baking two plain sponge cakes, once they had cooled, i placed them in the freezer so that they would be easier to shape.
Once I had cut the main shape, I then cut them through the middle to add butter cream and jam to the center (a bit like a victoria sponge).
I glued the two pieces to a large cake board using icing.
I then colored the various bits of icing and applied it to the separate pieces of cake. White icing was used for the dress and luster powder was used to make it sparkle. various shades of pink were used for the head and other features.
I then created the extra details like the eyes, mouth, legs, arms, feet, want, etc using the left over pieces of icing and glitter icing pens. I also used jellied diamonds for the crown and wand.
For the wings, I used rice paper and cut out 2 heart shapes and covered them with white luster dust to make them sparkle then I used an icing tube to define the edges. I then glued them into place using icing.
