Mother's Day Cake - Fresh Strawberry Shortcake
by Nancy Courtney
(Rialto, CA)
To make this Mother's Day cake, I baked a white cake in one heart shaped pan and one small round pan. I cut up my strawberries and mixed them with strawberry glaze I bought at the market. I cut both cakes in half and filled them with the strawberries and glaze.
I mixed up a whip cream and frosted all the cakes after I stacked them together. I went to the neighbor and she let me pick a red rose.
I put it on top in a bent straw I had taped together with a little a little water in it. I trimmed the stem of the rose and poked it into the cake.
I cut some strawberries and added them around the cake.
I trimmed the cake with a shell tip and put a few drops of gel on the rose pedals and sprinkled a little edible glitter on it.
I had a can of Wilton spray in red and I sprayed a little over the cake.
My son is cooking for me for Mother's Day and I though I would bring the dessert for us two Mothers that will be there. Nancy of CA
