I pinned the grease proof paper pattern to the cake to cut around and then traced over the black lines with a sharp paring knife.
For the red I used Wilton's No Taste Red and once mixed to a deep pink I added red powder icing color which darkened over a period of about half an hour, magic stuff.
For the black I first darkened the icing to chocolate with cocoa powder, then used Wilton's Black followed by black powder, again darkening over a period of half an hour.
For Mickey's skin color I used Wilton's Ivory. I used the buttercream icing recipe found on the Wilton's website where they also have a recipe for the pure white icing.
I couldn't tell you what size piping tools I used, I just borrowed some old plastic supermarket brought ones my Mum had sitting in her cupboard for the past 20 years or so, lol. Most importantly Luke recognized Mickey straight away and my little girl Lily, who turns 4 in January has put in a request for a Dora cake :-)
