Kourtnie`s 3rd Birthday Elmo Cake

Happy Birthday Kourtnie - Elmo Cake

I made the legs and arms of this Elmo cake with rice krispy treats. Make these at at least 3 days in advance!!

The head is made with 2 half circle baked in the Wilton's ball pan. You can use any round ball shaped pan, metal or glass, like pyrex.

The body is made with 8" high and baked with 6" round cake pans. I used 2 1/2 red, red-red and Christmas red Wilton's paste. I never thought I was going to get that deep red color.

Take care to only cut on a frozen cake that has been in the freezer at least an hour or two. You can use straws to support the body or wooden dowels. I would use 4 place around the circle.

Place the head on a cardboard cake round, cut to size. I cut a little wedge out of the tip of one circle for his mouth.I used gum paste for the eyes and nose, next time I will use styrofoam and then cover them with fondant.
