Katy Bug Cake
by Laketta and Travis Reed
(White Mills, Ky. U.S.A.)
The cake was made of white and chocolate cake with vanilla butter creme icing as both the crumb coat and the outer layer for the vanilla flavored fondant of green and white of the first and second tiers to stick to.
The lady bug was the smash cake for the one year old and it was also made up of chocolate cake for the body and vanilla butter creme for both the crumb coat and outer layer for the red fondant to stick to.
The head of the lady bug was made up of white cake and vanilla butter creme and black chocolate flavored fondant which I flavored and tinted myself.
The decoration of each flower was hand cut and formed using fondant tools and cutters.
The lady bugs where formed by hand and hand panted as were the track marks on the board from the bugs.
The bows were hand formed and and painted as well.
The number one was was hand formed. All fondant was flavored and tinted to fit what was wanted.
