Jennifer's Dinosaur Cake
by Kelly Little-Smalley
(Van Buren, Arkansas, USA)
To make this dinosaur cake, I used 1 cake mix and I baked in one side of the Wilton sports ball pan, 1 egg shaped cupcake and 1 round cake.
Bake until done and cool completely.
I cut out the neck, legs and tail from the round cake.
Then I placed them on the board and covered in buttercream in different shades of green. Let dry a while then smooth with a Viva towel.
After I smoothed out the body, I added the legs.
Then I iced them and smoothed them as well.
I used fondant for the eyes and toes and the spikes on the tail.
I used gum paste for the spikes along the back.
I added brown sugar for dirt and went around that with green and the grass tip...mainly to hold the brown sugar on the cake board during transport.
I added candy rocks too.
I had 1/2 of the round cake left so I made a kitten face too.
