Jennifer Cheerleader Cake
by Jere
(Chambersburg, PA)
To make this cheerleader cake, I used the baby doll cake pan from Wilton Cakes. I went directly from the design of my daughter's school cheerleading uniform. I started by using the star tip #16 for the body.
I used peach coloring (just a tiny bit) mixed with white decorator's icing to give it a flesh tone.
I started with her legs and then did her face. You have to use a bit more to raise the nose. Make sure to leave enough room for the mouth and eyes.
I styled her hair according to the style that she always wore for cheering.
Her hair was done with the larger star tip #21 - pulling it out from beginning to end in each row of hair.
I used the same tip for her hair ties - just in the color of her uniform.
Using white decorators icing, and a regular small spatula - I smoothed icing around her feet for her shoes.
For her uniform I used star tip #16, I piped in the style of her uniform, the smaller lines of the uniform, I used tip #3 to pipe in the straight lines.
For her pom poms, I used the #21 star tip again and pulled the pom poms out from the end of her sleeves and made sure that they had some poof to them by building up the icing in mounds.
For her eyes I used a large dot of white icing - and smoothed it with a tiny bit of water and then dotted a smaller dot of black for the pupils. Her lashes and mouth were done with tip #2, in black and red icing, as was the emblem on the side of her shoes in blue icing.
For her name, I used the edible candy letters that you can buy at any craft store.
It turned out to match the picture of her perfectly!
