Hawaiian Shirt Birthday Cake
by Vinita Balani
I made this Hawaiian Shirt Birthday Cake for a friend's son was celebrating his 16th birthday Hawaiian style!! Since the party was for around 30 kids, the large cake, though simple to decorate, took a while to complete to give it the Hawaiian touch!
Step 1: Cut the cake to have three sections, the front with buttons and the two arms.
Step 2: Placed on a cardboard covered tightly with foil.
Step 3: Prepared icing for the following colors: red, yellow, blue, white.
Step 4: Iced with the first smooth layer of blue all over, using the scraper dipped in water to get the smooth finish.
Step 5: Began decorating with the white marks first, followed by filling in the colored icings at the required sections. I used some multicolored (confetti) toppings for the flower centers.
Used Crisco shortening, icing sugar beat at medium speed for around 5 minutes for the icing.
The cake was baked on a cardboard covered with, and was vanilla flavor.
