To make this Hannah Montana electric guitar birthday cake, I used purple buttercream icing. I cut it out and shaped it from a sheet cake. I made gumpaste decorations to place on the top. I colored the gumpaste with airbrush. I also airbrushed stencil designs on the side.
I used jewelry string for the strings, this gives the straight lines that you need and gives the guitar a more realistic look, because of the raised strings. I used a star tip for the border at the bottom to cover the cake board.

I drew the shape on a piece of tracing paper. I made two sheet cakes with buttercream in the center and placed them on top of each other. I used the trace paper and then cut out the shape on the top of the cakes. It was not hard. To icin the cake, I used the icin tip, and then smoothed out the edges with my knife.
