Flip Flop Cake and Tiki Cup Cakes
by Amy Manes
(Springfield, IL)
This flip flop cake was made for my daughter and neice's Luau birthday party. The cup cakes for the guests. Coat the foam board with a coat of icing. Start taking two pre-made angle food cakes and cut them long ways down the center. Lay the two pieces together to form one long piece. Then use your serrated knife to form the shape of a flip flop. Do the other filp flop in the same manner.
Coat both flip flops with icing color of choice. Unroll your fruit by the foot and put around the sides of both flip flop.
Next find where you think the thong part would go. Take a knife and press little cuts for the fruit by the foot to set in. Using your fruit by the foot fold it over to double the thickness(so it will hold shape).
Put the fruit by the foot in your pre-made holes.
Take the spree candies and place them all over the flip flops.
Add the fake flowers at the base of where the toes go in the flip flop.
Put graham crackers in the food processor and crush til it looks sand.
Spread them all over leaving a corner with out sand.
Spread some blue icing on this section and add your favorite candy fish.
For cupcakes bake off 2 dozen chocolate cup cakes.
Use marshmallow cream on top and dip them in remainder of the graham cracker sand.
Top with chocolate tiki mask.
All that's left to do is the LIMBO.....
