Fire Truck Cake
by Kelly
(Van Buren, Arkansas USA)
For this fire truck cake, I used 1/2 sheet pan. I used 2 cake mixes per pan and made 2 large cakes.
After cooled completely, I cut lengthwise down the center of each cake so there were 4 identical pieces. And I used a yardstick!
Don't forget to level!
I used buttercream and iced between layers. There are 3 layers.
I used the 4th section to make the top pieces. I used a biscuit cutter for the circle and cut a long piece and 4 square pieces.
For the long piece I sat it on a piece of cardboard the same size and that rested on top of the cab of the truck and the circle and the small square in the center. I secured all these pieces with skewers.
I used a big star tip for the red.
And small star for the white. And I used a #4 or 5 round tip for lines.
I used liquorice for the ladder on top and candy cigarettes for the white ladders.
A big ladder on each side and one small ladder on the back were white.
I used the black liquorice for the bumpers and secured them with toothpicks.
I used certz for the headlights, red hots for the brake lights, gum drops and jolly ranchers for the flashing lights and some fruit flavored candy for the turn signals that were orange. Those were bigger than tic-tacs. And oreo cookies for wheels.
This cake is almost 12" tall and 18" long and 6" wide.
It weighs a ton! lol
