Doodlebops Birthday Cake

This Doodlebops birthday cake was my first try at a 3 tier birthday cake! I made this cake for my daughter's 2nd birthday party...Doodlebops being the theme of her choice of course!
I started the cake with a great pound cake recipe that I found online. The filling that I used was a recipe from my grandmother (with a little chocolate twist I added) - chocolate cream cheese pie.
The crumb layer was a cream cheese and whip cream mixture and the outer layer was a baker's icing and cream cheese mixture...yes I know its a lot of cream cheese..its definitely not for diabetics or weight watchers but once you taste it, watch out!
As for the decorations, I sprayed each layer using cake spray tints in pink, blue and orange - one layer for each of the doodlebops.
I then added different ribbons on the bottom of each tier to add a little more color. Then I used Doodlebop cupcake rings to represent each face of the Doodlebops on the appropriate tier.
I made the stars, flowers and circles out of precolored fondant as well as the lettering.
For the topper, I found a great blinking princess crown at the craft store and added 3 long stem candles and 2 foil sprays behind it to give the cake more height.
The cake was a huge success and I am very proud of it for being my first cake!
