Did Someone Say Pancakes?

To make this pancakes cake, we baked two 8" cakes. Then covered them in buttercream icing. Next we rolled out some white fondant, enough to cover just the top of the cake. We then took some white fondant and started rolling out in between our hands, to make a long log.
The shape didn't have to be pretty, as pancakes usually aren't, plus it gives it a more realistic look, layered look.
Make a long enough piece to go around the cake. When you have reach the desired length, wrap around the bottom of the cake. You will start from the bottom and work the long rolled out "logs" up the cake. Remember they don't have to be perfect.
When we got the top of the cake, make sure the "log" will cover the outer rim of the top piece of fondant you laid on top of the cake, not to leave any gaps.
We then took icing coloring and watered it down a little in order to paint the entire cake yellow. After we finished that, we took some brown icing coloring and watered it down also, and brushed in different spots, to give the browning which pancakes have.
My sweetie then took yellow buttercream icing and wrote the happy birthday on it. After that we mixed a little brown food coloring to piping gel and pulled on top of the cake, and then work with it, thinning it work to fall down the sides, to give it the poured syrup look.
