Daschund Birthday Cake

This dachshund birthday cake is a 2 layer round Buttermilk Chocolate cake. It is frosted in Buttercream with a buttercream transfer dachshund dog. I got the dog picture off the internet with free clipart.
I used 2 colors of buttercream for the transfer using tip #3 to outline the dog and add the dark highlights to the dog.
I then used a tip #5 to fill in the dog with a lighter brown. To make a buttercream transfer put a picture or coloring page on a flat cookie pan. Tape the picture down. Then put on top of the picture wax paper.
I then tape it down so it won't move. I out line the picture and then fill in the colors. I let it set for at least 5 minutes for the buttercream to set up. I then pat with my fingers the frosting to fill in any cakes and smooth the picture. I freeze the picture on the pan for 10 minutes or longer till it is frozen solid. I then take it out of the freezer tear the wax paper off and quickly put picture on cake.
You can add a border around the picture but I choose not to. Just remember that the picture is reverse so letters will be backwards if you do the buttercream transfer with words.
Homemade buttercream frosting on the cake as crumb coat and the final frosting.
I felt it needed more so added the paw prints around the cake. The paw prints are just a Wilton tip # 12 and #7. This was made for my college niece who misses her dog while at college. I added sprinkles to make it look festive.
I have received many good comments from dog lovers on this cake. I think the paw prints really set the cake apart. The words were buttercream with tip #4 or #5.
