Christmas Tree Cake
I used a Wilton tree pan for this first-time Christmas tree cake decorating project. I covered the cake board with wrapping paper to add a more festive feeling. After baking and cooling the cake, I crumb coated it and let it cool in the refrigerator for approx 5 minutes.
I used an evergreen tint for the icing color. Using a star tip, I covered the entire tree except for the base.
I used a bronze looking color for the tree base. I used a spatula to smooth the icing for a contrasting look.
I then used a flat tip to make the star. I used yellow icing but the color can be changed for a different look.
I then used a small round tip (alternating with purple, red, blue, yellow) to make the light strands going around the tree.
The dots were placed side by side but didn't actually have a sting connecting them. Using the same small round tip, I handmade several candy-canes with red icing.
I went back with the same tip and alternated red and white icing to make the stripes of the candy canes. The cake was a big hit with my son's preschool class and all the guests!
